This year the event brings together developers and designers for a day of workshops, keynotes and discussions. The conference focuses on key topics like blockchain, cloud platforms, future interaction models, cross-competence collaboration and the social impact of these technologies.
Akseli Virtanen, PhD, is a co-founder and CEO of Economic Space Agency. He is a political economist and finance theorist, born in Finland and currently based in Oakland, where he is working with the ECSA team on organizational and political potentiality of financial technologies and distributed software architectures.
Alf Rehn is the Professor of Innovation, Design, and Management at the University of Southern Denmark. Currently, Alf distributes his time between academic work, corporate advisory, keynote speaking and his lifelong love of trashy popular culture.
Ben Sauer is a design strategist for Clearleft. Most of the time, he works with organisations around the world to raise their design game. He’s been speaking about voice UI at events for several years, and training teams in how to rapidly prototype voice interfaces.
Bodil is a compulsive conference speaker in the fields of functional programming and internet technologies, and is a co-organiser of multiple developer conferences in Scandinavia and the UK, mostly because she’s still learning how to stop. She is a prolific contributor to the Free Software community, and designs new programming languages as a hobby. Her favourite pony is Pinkie Pie.
Charity is CEO, co-founder, and an engineer at Honeycomb, a startup that blends the speed of time series with the raw power of rich events for interactive, iterative debugging of complex systems.
Che is the global head of design at Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones. A strong background in branding in digital domains, Che speaks passionately about bridging the design of journalism between print and digital, how to ensure the heritage and integrity of a famous publication stays intact in device-centric times.
Harri Santamala, "Mr. Robobus", CEO and co-founder of Sensible 4 - a company pioneering with all-season autonomous driving technologies. He is leading the company towards commercial shared driverless mobility systems.
Heikki has decades of experience developing software for digital businesses. With strong agile background, he believes in evolutionary improvement in business and software development. He loves teamwork and he is constantly seeking better working practices.
Isabella is a recognised expert on our changing relationship with technology and digital services. She’s a human insights specialist with a special focus on future scenarios and the human experience. For the past decade, Isabella has specialized in the digital habits and lifestyles of millennials and younger user groups, bridging digital phenomena to wider social contexts.
Jessica Cauchard investigates novel human-machine interaction, particularly human-drone interactions and natural interfaces. Currently she focuses on building methods and early stage prototypes for interacting with devices of the future.
Dr. Johan Himberg has 18 years of professional experience working with data, analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Specialised in advanced customer and process analytics, Johan has helped some of Reaktor’s most recognised clients stay on top of their game.
John is a principal product designer at Reaktor and has helped create digital products for clients such as Under Armour, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Viacom, and The LIVESTRONG Foundation. His work is driven by a firm belief that designers must exit their own echo chamber in order for the profession to mature and prepare itself for the challenges of the next century.
Jon is a Partner at Modernist Studio, the Founder of Austin Center for Design and the author of six books. He was previously the Vice President of Design at Blackboard, the largest educational software company in the world. He joined Blackboard with the acquisition of MyEdu, a startup focused on helping students succeed in college and get jobs.
Minna Saariketo is a doctoral researcher in the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Tampere, Finland. Currently she is finalizing her dissertation on agency in the programmable society and working as a researcher in Digital Face project in Aalto University studying people’s experiences of softwarization.
Pip Mothersill is a researcher at MIT Media Lab focusing on how we can more intuitively and considerately integrate technology into new tools for the creative process. She has developed EmotiveModeler CAD that allows using expressive adjectives to manipulate 3D forms. Pip has degrees in Aeronautical Engineering and Industrial Design and has worked as a product designer at P&G.
Sari Stenfors is the Executive Director of Augmented Leadership Institute and a CEO of Innovation Democracy Inc. Sari has a passion for innovation, digital worlds, and disruptive organizations.
Sergio Benitez’ work ranges from designing anomaly detection algorithms at Google, to developing new languages for programming robots at MIT and to working on operating systems that operate rockets and spacecraft at SpaceX.
Steven Spencer is a Lead Data Engineer and Software Engineer at Reaktor with a focus on distributed systems and functional programming. Steven works on large-scale application and optimization of machine learning algorithms.
Ville leads Nordea Bank's distributed ledger and blockchain core development and research team. He has more than sixteen years of experience in digital financial services and has held several key positions worldwide in financial services and connected devices industries.
